  • Late pregnancy discomforts and tips for coping
  • Encouraging optimal fetal positioning
  • Stages of labor and what to expect for each
  • Knowing when it is time to go to the hospital during labor
  • Hormones in labor
  • How to navigate the maternity care system and ask the right questions
  • Self-advocacy before, during, and after labor
  • Tools for coping with labor sensations, including options you have for natural and medical pain relief
  • Pushing positions and techniques
  • How your birth partner can help
  • Making a birth plan
  • Second stage interventions, including c-section and assisted delivery
  • Postpartum in the hospital, both for parent and baby
  • Postpartum adjustment at home

This class is designed to help you feel more confident and less anxious about your labor and delivery. We encourage questions and will share helpful resources with you. We recommend taking this class between 27 and 34 weeks of pregnancy.
